Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Leigha, and yes, my last name is Wondergem, and no, it’s not a fictional creation or a superhero alter ego; it is my actual family name. Wondergem Photography was born out of a childhood and early adulthood passion for photography. While I’ve graduated (somewhat) from the disposable cameras I used to ask for as a kid, I still get that same feeling from when I was 8 years old, when I pick up my camera now.

One of my favorite things about photography is its ability to freeze time. Preserve memories. Make a moment into a memory. Shooting film is my creative refuge—a nostalgic nod to the past, blending perfectly with my affinity for history. There's something captivating about learning the stories and secrets held within every frame. Through my lens, I embrace the company of people, cherishing the moments that evoke genuine belly laughs and heartfelt connections. Witnessing the joy on people's faces and helping them make a memory, whether it's the pure joy of a couple in love or the glee of a child playing with their furry companion, fulfills me more than I can say in words here.

As a Midwest gal with a love for nature, I find solace in spending time with just me and my camera in the great outdoors–the tranquility of lakes, the warmth of campfires, and the joy of indulging in s'mores. Early family trips to Chicago made my passion for photography take off, capturing the essence of iconic spots like the Salt and Pepper Diner or the electric atmosphere surrounding the Cubs in Wrigleyville.

As an avid learner, I thrive on discovering new cultures and places. Traveling feeds my curiosity and exposes me to things my mind could never dream of. Similarly, history acts as my compass, guiding me to delve deeper into the stories etched in every corner, painting vivid pictures of lives once lived and of course, taking my camera along to capture it all. It is through this exploration that I find inspiration, weaving narratives within my photography that transcend time and bridge generations.

Beyond my passion for photography, I've honed my skills working in social media, utilizing digital platforms to connect with a wider audience and showcase the beauty I capture. My creative spirit deeps into other artistic forms of expression. Using my love for art and community, I've worked with local artists in Chicago curating art shows and pop events. Sharing my photography and another love of mine, tie-dye - I'm able to express myself in many different ways. My love for tie dye runs deep, an art form passed down by my grandpa. It serves as a vibrant expression of my creative spirit, infusing color and life into everything I do.
